Lawyers are challenging the jurisdiction of judges that are over age 75, according to a report from the Toronto Star. Deputy judges, usually retired Federal Court judges, are paid on a per diem basis to hear immigration and intellectual property cases, among others. Justice Tannenbaum’s cases have already been rescheduled to be heard by others. The affected judges include:
The Honourable James K. Hugessen, age 76 
The Honourable Max M. Teitelbaum, age 77 
The Honourable Maurice E. Lagacé, age 77 
The Honourable Orville Frenette, age 82 
The Honourable Louis S. Tannenbaum, age 77 
The Honourable W. Andrew MacKay
